Founded in 1912, HSGKC has been saving and improving the lives of dogs and cats throughout the Greater Kansas City community for over 100 years. In 1994 we became the first No-Kill Shelter in the KC metro area. Our caring and knowledgeable staff are expert matchmakers and want to help you find the right match for your home & lifestyle. Many of the pets in our shelter were originally at KCK Animal Services and were injured or sick and in need of life-saving veterinary care.
Our veterinary clinic provides affordable & quality care for pets and reduces pet overpopulation through spaying & neutering. We also have a pet food pantry to help people feed their pets during difficult times. By providing affordable services and education, we're able to save and improve the lives of thousands of pets in the Greater KC community and prevent countless pets from being relinquished to shelters.
Our life-saving partership with KCK Animal Services provides medical care to pets at the city shelter and helps them find homes. Pets at the city shelter receive medical examinations, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and other needed medical care and procedures. Our volunteers conduct weekend satellite adoption events at the PetSmart in Olathe to help those pets find homes.
