If you'd like to help pets like Romeo and Juliet you can do so by donating online with a one-time donation or set up a monthly gift to the Ray of Hope program. Ray of Hope cost us an average of $13,500 per month in 2011.The spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, heartworm tests and repairable medical procedures are done at our expense. Our staff and volunteers are committed to seeing this through and have it become an ongoing service of the Humane Society, but we need your help:
- $1,000 spays 20 Ray of Hope large dogs
- $100 provides medical care for 1 Ray of Hope pet
- $25 pays transport fees for 1 Ray of Hope pet to a no kill sanctuary
Will you join us in saving lives?

- Become a foster parent for a Ray of Hope dog. If you are interested in fostering dogs from KCK Animal Control, please send an email. Include what type of dog you can accommodate and we will connect you with one of our Ray of Hope rescue partners. Our rescue partners can take more dogs from KCK Animal Control and find them good homes if they have more foster homes. And that allows us to save more lives!
- Become a weekend pet adoption volunteer for KCK Animal Control dogs (held at the Olathe PetSmart and Legends). Contact Jo Hickey at 913-596-1000 ext. 122 or send an email.
- Donate dog food and new or used collars & leashes. Our rescue partners greatly appreciate donations of dry dog food to help cut costs. Unopened bags of Purina, Pedigree, or any brand except Ol'Roy are much needed. We also need collars & leashes for satellite adoptions and sending home with dogs. Medium & large sizes are most needed. You can drop off donations at our shelter or during Ray of Hope satellite events or HSGKC satellite events at those locations.
- Adopt a pet from KCK Animal Control. Visit the KCK Animal Control Petfinder page for more information on adopting their pets, weekend satellite adoption locations, off-site cat adoption locations, and to view photos of some of the pets at their shelter.
