Staff
Spotlight:
Heidi Petree
Superstar
employee Heidi Petree has been with the HSGKC as a receptionist since May of 2007. “I came in to pick up some
kitten milk replacer for my foster kittens and they offered me
the job,” said Heidi. Not the typical interview process,
but Heidi is not a typical employee. Not only does she answer
phones, schedule surgery appointments and work the front desk,
she also cleans the cat rooms on the weekends and helps transport
animals to rescue.
No matter what day of the
week you come by for a visit, you’re
likely to see Heidi. She’s here seven days a week which
doesn’t leave her much time to herself, but she wouldn’t
have it any other way. At home, Heidi has dogs and cats of her
own but also likes to foster orphaned kittens. In her years of
fostering homeless animals, Heidi estimates that she has bottle-fed
nearly 100 kittens. When asked about her champion colleague,
coworker Jesse Patnode sums it up best, “She’s a
very dedicated worker!”

Satellite Adoption Events
We've got lots of satellite adoption
events coming up in May & June! You can check our satellite
adoption page for dates and locations. Contact Jana if
you'd like more information about helping with any of the events.
I am so tired of
hearing about “Dog N Jog”,
do you people not think that cats care about their fitness just
as much? I think perhaps we should rename the event “Get
out of Bed and Stretch”, or “Bend N Eat”. Just
a couple of ideas for you! So from what
I hear it is just a month away and Jo still needs volunteers. I
would get out and help you all myself, but I am physically unable
to get out of bed before noon on Sunday. It is the day of rest
you know.
Quick reminder to you all as well, Alfie may
act like he wants you to pet him, but he has multiple personality
disorder and will bite you. Tata for now.

Intern

A special
thank you to our spring
interns Nicole DeMaranville and Alicia
Fox. Their help in the
fundraising department has been wonderful. Our new summer intern
Elizabeth Ralls will begin the
end of May.
Item of the
Week:
Cat Food for Barn Cats
Need to clear out some cabinet space?
Have some extra cat food? Then come on down...to the HSGKC. With
the Humane Society’s feral cat program underway,
these cats are in need of some yummies-in-their-tummies! The
HSGKC likes to send our feral friends home in style with some
delicious hor’dourves to fill their bellies…or at
least some Cat Chow! So whether it’s
an extra bag from the pantry or a new one off the shelf, these
kitties aren’t too picky.

a list of other items and services we need, check out our Sit
Up and Beg Wish List.
