Every year at the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, we touch the lives of thousands of animals through our proactive programs. We're able to do this because of people like you-- people who believe in the value of an animal's life and well-being.

We are supported entirely through private donations and therefore rely heavily on the generosity of individuals and families within our community. We hope that you decide to become one of these individuals through your support!

The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. All contributions are tax-deductible as provided by law. The Humane Society does not sell or trade your name with other organizations.

Gabriel's Fund: Helping sick and injured homeless pets

Here at the Humane Society we believe that every pet's life has value.

When we first met Gabriel, he was a tiny puppy who'd been hit by a car and left to fend for himself with three broken legs. He couldn't even stand up but his little tail wouldn't stop wagging. We took him to a veterinary clinic and Humane Society staff and volunteers quickly chipped in to cover the cost of x-rays and surgery. In his honor, we established Gabriel's Fund to help other homeless pets who come to us needing extra care.

Gabriel made a complete recovery and has been adopted into a loving home. By making a donation today you can help save the life of another deserving animal.

Visit the Gabriel's Fund page for more information.

Ray of Hope Program: Saving city shelter pets when “their time is up”

In January 2009, The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City began a partnership, called the Ray of Hope, with the KCK Animal Control to reduce the euthanasia rate in the city shelter. The results have been amazing: 2,400 pets have been saved in 2009 and the KCK Animal Control's euthanasia rate has decreased from 70% in 2007 to under 3% in 2009.

Visit The Ray of Hope page for more information about this life-saving program.

Memorials/Honorariums

Memorial & Honorarium Donations honor the people or animals that have meant so much to you during your life.

Or download a Memorial/Honorarium form to print off and mail in. (Adobe Acrobat or PDF viewer required.)

Sponsor a Shelter Pet

As you know, our animals stay with us until they are adopted. This means that sometimes our friends are with us for quite awhile. You can become a friend to these pets through your sponsorship of them. You'll receive a photo and information about the pet you've chosen and we'll make a special card for your pet's cage so that everyone knows that YOU care!

Visit our Sponsor-A-Pet Page for more information.

S.P.O.T.S.: Stop Pet Overpopulation Through Surgery

Through our low-cost clinic here at the Humane Society, we spayed or neutered nearly 6,000 pets in 2009 and we're set to do even more in 2010. It's part of our organization's mission and key to ending the problem of pet overpopulation.

S.P.O.T.S. (Stop Pet Overpopulation Through Surgery) is a special fund we've created to assist very low-income people with spay/neuter fees. By sponsoring a spay or neuter surgery through the S.P.O.T.S. program you can help reduce euthanasia in the KC metro area.

Visit our S.P.O.T.S. Page for more information.
