A few times each month we pick out several of our shelter pets, give them a good scrubbing in the tub or extra brushing, and go out on the town to look for good homes! It's fun and good socialization for them, and a great opportunity for you to meet your new best friend.

Pets are not allowed to be taken home directly from our satellite adoption events. Instead, we ask that you fill out an application at the event and then give us a call on the following business day. We do this so that you have some time to think about it without having to make a hurried decision, and to allow us time to review applications for approval. If we both agree that this is the pet for you, then we can arrange a time that's convenient for you to pick up your new furry friend from our shelter.

For more information please go to our adoption process page. We do require a fenced yard for most of our dogs, though there may be some dogs who are appropriate for apartment living or circumstances where a fence may not be required.

25th Annual Dog-N-Jog

Grab your running shoes and leash and join us for a fun-filled morning! This year we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Dog-N-Jog. The event includes a 1 & 2 mile run and a 1 mile walk, in addition to agility performances, pet photos, pet vendors, cutest dog costume contest, random prize drawings and more!

Don't forget to stop by the Humane Society of Greater KC adoption booth to meet our adoptable dogs!
